About Me

I'm Heather, an independent celebrant, based in Penistone, South Yorkshire and I lead weddings, vow renewals, and funerals.

Home for me is Penistone, South Yorkshire, where I live with my partner and our 10 year old son. I love it here, on the edge of the Peak District, where I can indulge in my love of the outdoors and nature, whilst still having easy access to all of the culture and opportunities that our fabulous nearby cities, including Sheffield and Leeds have to offer.

What interests me?

Travel, both here in the UK, and in France, in my campervan or travelling further afield to experience different cultures (most recently SE Asia). Supporting our local grassroots music venues, and going to music festivals (we especially love Greenman in Wales).

Being in nature, whether walking through woodland, along clifftops, on the coast, I will be observing wildlife and the change of the seasons. I have a passion for foraging, especially mushrooms, which I find fascinating.

A now mostly retired triathlete, I still enjoy cycling, but more so open water swimming - give me a puddle and I'll be paddling in it!

Why did I become a celebrant?

It's a long story, and one that I get asked all the time.

I promise I will write a blog post about it at some point.

In summary though, I spent almost 20 years working in management roles at

a major UK bank, where I am grateful for the vast experience and

transferable skills that I gained.

In 2013, my mum died, after living with cancer for five years,

and six months later, I became a Mum myself.

These life changing events meant that when I was made redundant in 2017,

I was ready for a change. I had already started working as a celebrant

on a part time basis the previous year, and was over the moon

to be able to seamlessly move into doing it full time.

Becoming a celebrant was one of the best decisions I have ever made!

I love my job with a passion that everyone tells me is clear to see.
